Talo for meetings browser extension privacy
Last updated: October 27, 2026.
This policy explains what data the «Talo for meetings» browser extension (Chrome and Chromium-based browsers) handles, what for, where it goes and how to delete it. It complements Talo's privacy policy. The controller is Velchanos Partners LLP (contact: contacto@velchanos.com).
1. What it is for
The extension has a single purpose: letting Talo, the desktop app that records and transcribes your meetings on your Mac, know who takes part and who is speaking in a Google Meet call, and add that meeting's chat, its links and the presented slides to the meeting notes. Without the Talo app installed and open on the same computer, the extension does nothing.
2. What data it reads
When you install it, the extension opens a page that explains all of this and reads or sends nothing until you press «Accept and turn on». You can withdraw your permission at any time from the extension icon.
The extension only runs on https://meet.google.com/ and on the Google Chat panel that Meet embeds in the call (https://chat.google.com/, only inside Meet). It reads no other website.
- While Talo is open, even if you are not recording: whether you are in a Meet call, its code (for example
abc-defg-hij), the tab title and when you join and leave. This lets Talo offer to record. - Only while you record that meeting in Talo: participants' names as Meet shows them (and which one is you), who is speaking at each moment, whether someone is presenting and who, the meeting chat messages (sender, text and links) and JPEG snapshots of the shared screen when the slide changes (at most 200 per meeting). Talo decides whether it wants the chat and the snapshots; if not, the extension does not read them.
- Technical diagnostics without personal data, for example that Meet changed and a page element can no longer be found.
- In the browser's local storage (
chrome.storage.local): your own Meet name, to tell you apart from others, and the last connection state with Talo, to show it in the extension window.
The extension does not record anyone's audio or camera, does not read your cookies, your history or other tabs, does not ask for an account and reads nothing outside Meet.
3. Where it goes: only to Talo, on the same computer
- The extension hands the data only to the Talo app on the same computer, through Chrome native messaging (host
es.talodesk.meetings). It is a local connection between two programs on your machine; it does not go over the internet. - The extension makes no network requests: not to Talo servers (Talo has no servers that receive this content), not to third parties, not to analytics or advertising services. It does not load or run remote code.
- If Talo is not open, the extension sends nothing and discards what it sees; it only keeps in memory, until Talo is back, the notice that you left a call.
- We do not sell, rent or transfer this data to anyone, we do not use it for advertising or to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes, and nobody at Velchanos Partners LLP reads it.
4. What Talo does with it
- It stores what it received during the recording in that meeting's folder on your Mac, next to its transcript:
senales-navegador.jsonl(participants, who speaks, chat and links) andcapturas/(the images and the text your Mac's local text recognition reads in them). If the meeting notes quote a chat message, that text is part of the notes and can be found with Talo's local search. - It uses who is speaking to put a name on each «Speaker N» of the transcript. You can correct any name.
- The meeting notes can quote chat messages and show the relevant snapshots, and chat links appear under «Shared links».
- When generating the notes, Talo sends your AI assistant (with your own account, as section 4 of Talo's policy explains) the transcript, the chat messages and the text read in the snapshots; the images are not sent. The Talo app does this, not the extension, and only for a meeting with a confirmed project that is not private.
- While Talo is open it also keeps a technical log of each call in
browser-bridge/sessions/, inside Talo's data folder, to diagnose the connection with Meet: only the call code, when you join and leave, and the technical diagnostics. That log holds no names, who speaks, chat, presentations, snapshots or tab title.
5. Retention and deletion
- Everything stays on your Mac.
senales-navegador.jsonlandcapturas/(with the text read in them) follow the meeting transcript: they are deleted automatically when the transcript passes the retention period you choose in Talo's Meetings settings («Retention and deletion»: 12 months by default, or while the project exists), and also with «Delete a project's transcripts». Notes already generated are kept while the project exists: they can still quote chat messages, but no longer show the snapshots. - «Delete this meeting…», on the meeting page in Talo, deletes
senales-navegador.jsonland the snapshots together with the transcript and the notes, and also that call's technical log inbrowser-bridge/sessions/. - «Delete what a person said», in Meetings, also removes that person's chat messages and name from
senales-navegador.jsonl(from the participant list, from who speaks and from who presents). Snapshots of what they presented are kept, without their name. - The technical log in
browser-bridge/sessions/is deleted automatically after 7 days (Talo keeps at most 200 calls) and can be deleted by hand at any time. - To delete what the extension keeps in the browser, remove it from
chrome://extensions. If you remove the extension, Talo stops receiving data from Meet.
6. The other people in the meeting
Names, voices, messages and shared screens are data of the people you meet with. If you use Talo to record and take notes of a meeting, you are the one deciding to do so and, under the General Data Protection Regulation and the guidance of the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), you must inform participants before recording and have a legal basis for it. Talo reminds you when each recording starts.
7. Your rights and contact
Since the extension sends no data off your computer, Velchanos Partners LLP holds no copy of it: you can see and delete it yourself as section 5 explains. For any question or to exercise your rights write to contacto@velchanos.com. You can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).
8. Changes
If the extension starts handling different data, we will update this page and its date before publishing that version.
