Talo Guide

Prepare a steering committee with Talo

How to gather a project's progress into an agenda, summary, and diagram ready for a steering committee.

You have a steering committee meeting with the client in a few days and you need an agenda, a progress summary, and if it helps, a diagram. All that's partly there already, in the conversations you've had in the project: just ask Talo to gather it.

Steps

  1. Go to Home and choose the client's project in the composer. If it's your first time

preparing one, tap the "Prepare a steering committee" idea: fill in the text box with a starting request without sending it, so you can adjust it first.

  1. Before you ask anything, review the project card (goal, client, stakeholders, and

constraints) and the TALO.md. If the committee's tone or format aren't there, add them: the assistant will use them to write.

  1. Ask the assistant something like "review this conversation and the earlier ones in

the project and prepare a one-page progress summary, with closed milestones and pending ones". If you have a Writer assistant installed, this is a good time to use it.

  1. Also ask for the committee agenda: "suggest a 45-minute agenda for the committee with

these topics". The assistant writes it with the same project context.

  1. From the content panel, create a new Markdown document with "+" → "Markdown Document" and

ask the assistant to put the summary and agenda there, or paste them yourself. Save with ⌘S: the file stays in the project folder, not in the conversation.

  1. If the committee needs a visual diagram (a process, a milestone timeline), ask the assistant

to make a Mermaid diagram: for example "create progress.mmd with the project's phases and their status". See Documents, diagrams, and whiteboard to edit it, zoom, or export to PNG or SVG.

  1. Take time to review the document and diagram before the meeting: edit them like any other

project file.

Tip

If you prepare committees for several clients, write in each project's TALO.md the exact format you prefer (extension, tone, if you sign). That way you don't have to repeat it every time you ask for a summary. More on this in Projects.

Keep in mind that the assistant only sees an index with document names, not their full content, unless it opens them or you paste them in the conversation. If the summary needs data from a specific document, ask for it explicitly or open it first.
