Talo Guide

Review with Talo

Draw, comment, and send a marked view to the conversation to ask for concrete changes.

"Review with Talo" opens a layer over the view you're reading. You can point out an element and attach a marked screenshot to the conversation, so the assistant knows what you mean. The button is available on Mermaid diagrams, PDFs, CSVs, Markdown, images, HTML, the built-in browser, and the read view of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. On the whiteboard you draw with its own tools; the review layer adds comments. It doesn't appear on code, diffs, missing files, or files that are too large.

Make a review

  1. Open a compatible file or page and tap "Review with Talo".
  2. Use the pencil, highlighter, arrow, or rectangle to mark the area. There are five colors,

and you can undo or redo.

  1. Click to pin a comment to a point or drag to mark an area. Depending on the format, Talo

identifies the node, page, cell or range, section, or web element when it can.

  1. Tap "Send to Talo". Review the message and send it in the conversation: it includes a screenshot

with marks and numbered comments. If there's no active conversation, Talo warns you and doesn't mark the review as sent.

  1. When the assistant finishes its turn, sent comments are marked as resolved. You can reopen

them manually if the answer doesn't help.

The layer freezes only what's visible. To review another part of the document, use "Pan", move the view, and pick a tool again; it creates another screenshot. The limit is twelve views per file. On PDF you might have to indicate the page manually. The Office read view lets you comment on content, but doesn't necessarily show the design, images, or charts from the original file.

Review annotation drafts are saved to Talo's local profile, not inside the file or the project folder. That's why they don't automatically travel to another Mac with the project. Sending a review to the assistant does send the screenshot and comment text to your chosen agent's provider; make sure beforehand that you can share that content. See Documents, diagrams, and whiteboard to edit the originals.
